Bolvar Fordragon was a legendary hero of the Alliance. A valiant knight, Bolvar made his name in Classic WoW as the protector of Stormwind. After the return of King Varian Wrynn, Fordragon moved to Northrend to fight against the Lich King and his Scourge. Before the Wrathgate, Bolvar finally met his fate. He and countless Horde and Alliance soldiers fell victim to a perfidious plot. A splinter group of Forsaken unleashed a devastating plague at the Wrathgate that ravaged both the undead and the living.
This cowardly attack nearly claimed Bolvar's life as well. But just before his last breath came the Red Dragons. The flames of Alexstrasza, the Lifebinder, saved Bolvar from the plague, but the dragon fire disfigured his body beyond recognition. The magical fire of the dragons was both a curse and a blessing for Bolvar. Finally, Alexstrasza's magic saved Fordragon from certain death and gave him the strength to withstand the Lich King's torture and his death magic. After the death of Arthas, Bolvar made a great sacrifice and voluntarily sat on the orphaned Frost Throne. Tirion Fordring granted Bolvar his last wish and crowned him the new Lich King. After that, the newly crowned King of the Scourge sank into a long hibernation. This should have been the end of his story, but Bolvar Fordragon was granted no rest.
Bolvar Fodragon takes the place of the Lich King in Wrath of the Lich King. Source: BlizzardWith the return of the Burning Legion, Bolvar awoke from his long cold sleep and interfered in the fortunes of the Knights of the Black Blade at nearly every opportunity. Although the Death Knights always regarded the new Lich King with caution and suspicion, they formed a loose alliance with Bolvar.
Because unlike Arthas, who demanded absolute obedience from his Death Knights in WotLK, Lich King Bolvar took a much more sophisticated approach in WoW: Legion. He showered the Death Knight heroes with all sorts of treasures and rewards over the course of the class campaign. In Battle for Azeroth, the Lich King went silent for quite a while, but we met his missing daughter Taelia Fordragon in Kul Tiras.
Finally, at the end of BfA, we learn why Bolvar withdrew from the spotlight after defeating the Burning Legion. The Lich King foresaw then that Sylvanas would one day pay him a visit in Icecrown Citadel. While we went to Ny'alotha to fight the Old God N'Zoth, Bolvar and his undead prepared to battle the Banshee Queen. And Sylvanas was not long in coming.
At the beginning of WoW: Shadowlands, the Banshee challenged the Lich King to a duel. Although the Lich King is one of the most powerful beings in Azeroth, Sylvanas brought her adversary Bolvar to his knees. She taunted Bolvar and destroyed the Helm of Domination to open a portal to the Shadowlands.05:23
The Helm of Domination and with it the Lich King were history. But what happened to Bolvar? The Four Horsemen and the Knights of the Black Blade took care of him. Without his crown, Bolvar was lost for the time being. Nevertheless, the Highlord quickly regained his courage and rallied the champions of Azeroth to take the fight to the Shadowlands.
In Shadowlands, Bolvar takes on the role of mediator between mortals and the inhabitants of the Shadowlands. As a former wearer of the Helm of Domination, he repeatedly establishes a connection with the Dungeon Master using a fragment of the crown and provides us with valuable information about his sinister machinations in Torghast.
The end of the Lich King and the journey to the Shadowlands changed Bolvar once again. There is now no trace of the sinister guardian of the Scourge. He lost his power with the Helm of Domination, but at the same time he regained a piece of his humanity. The meeting with his lost daughter Taelia Fordragon finally marks an important turning point in Bolvar's history!Page 1 From Highlord to Lich King and back again Page 2 Taelia, the lost daughter Page 3Image gallery for WoW: Bolvar and his daughter Taelia have a talk next page next page to the gallery to the home page Jump to comments(7)
